Really happy to be playing this year’s edition of Babylon Soundgarden Festival in Istanbul! I’m looking forward to hearing Kings of Convenience live, and of course sharing the great line-up at the RBMA stage with Beardyman, Kabus Kerim, Ahu and more talented peoples. Also, this’ll be the first time I’ll be playing with my fellow-Gado Deniz Karaman, aka Mr.Strangé!
I will be playing on a boat (first time) in Vienna (first time) on May the 30th. Badeschiff Wien is the location for this party hosted by Well Gedacht. Beats, and more beats all night!
Here’s a remix I made for Turkish producer/singer Heartsparxx. The EP, consisting of the original and 5 remixes (Sami Baha, Baker Aaron, Levni and Nodul as well) is out today on Tektosag Records. And available as a free download! Stream my remix below, and watch the video for the original here.
Big congrats to my Number Nine familia, who have now opened their new store in Amsterdam! This will be celebrated the 13th of April with an in-store event & afterparty at Roest, in collaboration with the Boston Strip crew. More info on location, times and full line-up can be found here.
The second installment of ‘Davulun Sesi’, a compilation focusing on talented Turkish producers and beatmakers, is out as of today! 24 producers deliver the goods this time, all styles covered. Take a listen to my contribution below, and download the full compilation here, or directly by clicking the ‘buy’ button in the Soundcloud-player.
The release will have a proper release-party February 8th at Babylon (Istanbul), with some of the producers on the compilation doing showcases, as well as a live show by Onra. Looking forward to playing in Istanbul again! More info on the party here.
After the full documentary Miguel Narings and VICE (for HUB Footwear) made about ‘Haas & Hahn’, the Dutch duo that painted entire streets in Philadelphia and the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, they decided to go back to Philly and see how the project had turned out.
Watch the full length documentary (with music by yours truly) here. Awesome watch! For this follow-up video, they used some music from my Eunice EP, which is still available as a free download!
February will see the release of the second installment of ‘Davulun Sesi’, a compilation of instrumental hiphop, beats and electronica by Turkish producers. Huge line-up on the tracklist, proud to be on this one! There will be a release party on February 8th, at Istanbul’s Babylon venue. Some of the producers on the compilation will play, joined by special guest Onra! Looking forward to this one, big up Tektosag, big up RBMA!
The homie Grup Ses Beats will be visiting the Netherlands, so we decided to throw a little event with the lovely girls of Sistemsiz! Come join us for a night full of beats, electronica and Turkish funk!
I will be playing some tunes at this year’s last Bashment at Bitterzoet (Amsterdam) this Friday, together with dj TLM, Lexflex & Global Mischa. Let’s go out with a bang!
Than Saturday will see the opening of a new exhibition at EYE Film Museum, also in Amsterdam, with and about the works of the legendary Oskar Fischinger. Video-mapping performance, live 08BAR beat sessions, guided tours, visuals, and of course access to the entire exhibition. Find me playing music with Nosedrip and the WaveFiles crew. Visual Sound! (free entrance)
Wednesday December 19th I will be playing at Chicago Social Club Amsterdam, at The New Rotary Connection with O.Boogie a.o.
I recently did an interview with the wonderful people over at one small seed, a great South African magazine on popular culture in the broadest sense. Love their website, and of course it’s great to see the ‘Eunice EP’ getting picked up in SA!
You can read the interview here.
Besides playing at the North Sea Jazz Club this Friday for Amsterdam Dance Event, with Portico Quartet and Hidden Orchestra amongst others (RSVP), there is more ADE-related news. Eight Magazine, a ‘young contemporary art magazine’, collaborated with the Red Bull Studio in Amsterdam on a very nice project. 8 graphic artists teamed up with 8 groups/musicians, that all spent a day at the studio together. A piece of art ánd a new track were created during that day. I’ve collaborated with Boston Strip soundman Mudde on the music, and my good friend Freshco did the artwork. The results can be seen and heard in the ADE Festival Lounge at Stanislavski, where you can also pick up your free copy of the magazine. Or, you can just listen to it here:
More new music! Amsterdam’s MC Theatre asked me to make some music inspired by their Nina Simone tribute-play, Nina (A)Live. That sounded pretty cool to me, and the result is a little 7-track EP, with vocals by Ninthe (who you can also hear on ‘Rise & Shine’), and including remixes by Saux and Julien Mier. It also contains a re-mixed version of the song ‘Twelve’, that previously appeared on 22Tracks’ ‘22Beats’ compilation. Good news: it’s free!
LFMC warrior Atlynn Vrolijk made a video for the first single ‘Black Smoke’, which you can see below. Stream and/or download the entire project on Soundcloud or Bandcamp.
Playing at the beautiful North Sea Jazz Club in Amsterdam during Amsterdam Dance Event this year. Going to be nice, specially with Hidden Orchestra performing, and Portico Quartet added to the line-up as well!

Footwear-brand HUB recently decided to make a series of short documentaries on people and projects that ‘challenge the obvious’. The first one, directed by the talented Miguel Narings, focuses on the Favela Painting / Philly Painting project by Dutchmen Jeroen Koolhaas and Dre Uhrhahn. Extremely inspiring duo and project, and a really good watch, that I’ve done some music and sound for. Made in collaboration with VICE and 100% Halal, enjoy!

It is with great pleasure that we can finally announce that our ‘Rise & Shine’ 10” will be released September 18th! Sense and I started working together many years ago, helping each other out on several projects, and worked on some of our own tracks in the spare time. Four of those tracks have now made it into a beautiful 10” vinyl (or digital of course) package, that will be put out by the lovely folks over at BeatsBroke in Austin, Texas, and distributed by Fat Beats and HHV. The physical album is now available, and features vocals from Esperanzah (Numaads), Hicoup, and Ninthe. Digital download (which comes with the physical purchase) also includes instrumentals.
You can stream the entire release on Soundcloud. Artwork is handled by Judith Veenendaal, who also shot this nice promo video with Noël Schoolderman. More info and digital links coming next week, for the full press release: click here!
Physical Pre-Sale:
I’m happy to have been invited to play a dj-set at the opening day of the first Bicycle Film Festival in Istanbul! Come hang out in and in front of Lokal (near Tünel) Friday the 14th of September, after the program at the Dutch Consulate.
Saturday, August 18th, we’ll already host the fifth edition of Yard Vibes at MC Theater and Toko MC! This time we start off extra early to enjoy the (hopefully) good weather, and get support from Planet Rose on the food-side (again, good weather=BBQ)!
We have two film screenings, both also Dutch premieres: ‘Built to last’, a short docu about Caribbean athletes on the road to the 2012 Olympics, and also ‘Usain Bolt: the fastest man alive’, a docu about one of the most inspiring athletes of our time.
Later on we’ll have an afterparty with our resident soundsystems Radical HI-FI, Drunken Lion Sound, Wazari Sound and Boston Strip Soundsystem, and this we’ll also be joined by Jah Depender (Bass Culture) and the mighty Herb-A-Lize It Sound! See you there!
Update: The entire compilation is now available as a free download on 22tracks.com/22beats, in return for just a single Tweet or Facebook-post!
22Tracks’ first official compilation, consisting entirely of Dutch producers, has been released last night. All previously unreleased material, check out ‘Twelve’ on Soundcloud below, and/or peep the entire compilation on 22Tracks! Great music and amazingly talented people, more news surrounding this compilation soon. Also big up Rick de Zwart for the beautiful artwork!
I’m happy to be featured on a new compilation on and by 22tracks, focusing on the Dutch beat-scene. The playlist, consisting of 22 tracks of course, will be online from next week on, and features new and exclusive work by 22 different producers. Great initiative, and magnificent music. Check out the teaser mix for a preview:
The compilation will have a proper release Friday the 27th at MC Toko / MC Theater, Amsterdam, with FS Green and Full Crate on decks, joined by a live performance by Dauwd. For more info on the release party, please check out the event-page.
